Students studying philosophy at Northern investigate questions dealing with ontology (the nature of the world around us), epistemology (the nature of knowledge itself) and ethics (how we ought to live). Since philosophy is the foundation for all other academic disciplines, the philosophy minor is a useful supplement to any academic major. It is particularly appropriate to students preparing for the ministry, for law school, or for graduate work in the humanities and social sciences. Programs
