Secondary Education (BSEd)

Specializations in Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Science, Social Science, and Math.

Required Major Program Electives: Students are required to earn 27 credits in a teachable content area with courses distributed according to the specifications of their area.

Students will design a plan of study (based on Department of Education Endorsement Requirements) in conjunction with the program advisor and will be approved by a faculty member in the content area and the Dean of the School of Education.

Flexible Learning Secondary Education (BSEd) Apprenticeship - Please visit with Dean, School of Education. Individuals must be working as a paraprofessional in a school district. Will complete the requirements as listed below.

  • In addition to fulfilling all General Education Requirements, candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Education or Bachelor of Music Education degrees must take the professional education course work required for certification in the state of South Dakota. See specific requirements for Elementary Education; K-12 Certification requirements for majors including Art, Health/Physical Education, Music, World Languages, and Special Education; and secondary education requirements for BSEd majors in Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.
