Admission Requirements:

  1. Completed Graduate Studies Application

  3. Two letters of Recommendation
  4. Official undergraduate transcript showing your degree awarded
    • 2.75 GPA from an accredited institution

Students who graduate with an undergraduate BSEd degree from NSU, and who have taken ELRN 510 , ELRN 535 , ELRN 585 , and ELRN 594  can complete the Instructional Design in E-learning (MSEd) degree in one year (Fall, Spring, Summer semesters.)

Program Overview:

Northern State University’s M.S.Ed. in Instructional Design in E‑Learning is designed for educators and instructional specialists who want to lead in virtual, hybrid, and classroom environments. It focuses on effective implementation of educational technology using rigorous, hands‑on methods aligned with ISTE Standards for Educators; equipping graduates as designers, facilitators, analysts, leaders, and collaborators in diverse learning contexts.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Graduate students will utilize and apply contemporary learning theories to develop remote learning experiences.
  • Graduate students will investigate factors influencing access to education and design instructional and training interventions to provide equitable access to education.
  • Graduate students will select, evaluate or design digital media to support learning.
  • Graduate students will identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies to support remote learning.
  • Graduate students will apply data analysis techniques to the design and evaluation of learning experiences.
  • Graduate students will employ effective and ethical communication strategies in instructional design.
  • Graduate students will apply current research and theory to the practice of instructional design and learning technology integration.
