Banking and Financial Services (MS)

Admission Requirements:

  1. Completed Graduate Studies Application
  2. $36.00 (non-refundable) application fee
  3. Two letters of Recommendations
  4. Official undergraduate transcript showing your degree awarded
    • 2.75 GPA from an accredited institution

Students who graduate with an undergraduate Banking and Financial Services (BS)  degree from NSU, and who have taken BADM 510 , BADM 517 , BADM 549 , and BADM 553  can complete the Banking and Financial Services (MS) degree in one year (Fall, Spring, Summer semesters.)

Program Overview:

The Master of Science in Banking and Financial Services at Northern State University is designed for banking professionals, financial analysts, trust officers, regulators, and those aspiring to leadership roles in the financial services sector. It equips students with advanced expertise in financial analysis, risk management, investment strategies, and regulatory compliance, fostering the next generation of industry leaders.

NSU’s Banking and Financial Services program is accredited by ACBSP.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze financial data and banking regulations in order to assess risks to a bank. (Cross-curricular Skill: Inquiry and Analysis)
  • Apply the appropriate banking regulations, policies and procedures to internal banking operating procedures. (Cross-curricular Skill: Information Literacy)

Foundation Courses:


Foundation courses are required for students who do not hold an undergraduate degree in Business. These courses must be completed prior to beginning any core or elective coursework. Upon receipt of an official transcript, a review will be conducted to determine whether any foundation courses may be waived.

TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED: 30 CREDITS
