GER 302 - Translating German

This course provides experience in translation from German into English (or, as appropriate, from English into German). Initial focus on specific structural and grammatical issues that make the translation of German texts more difficult, followed by units covering the basic areas of translation: genealogical, literary, technical. Experience using online dictionaries, reference works, forums, and how to approach difficult passages and translation problems. Beginning January 2021 (at NSU), GER prefix switched to GLAN. Prerequisite: GER 202 or equivalent, or permission of instructor 3 credits
