BIOL 409 - Advanced Biotechnology

Analysis and application of the research and techniques currently used to explore and manipulate biological, chemical, and molecular function. Topics include characterization of biochemical activities of gene products, large-scale fermentation, and gene function. Exploration of the business of biotechnology, including therapeutic approaches and drug development, entrepreneurship, the value of intellectual property, the importance of ethics, and the role of biotechnology laws in corporate, environmental, and healthcare law. 3 credits
