K-12 Braille Education Endorsement

Program Requirements

Proficiency in reading Braille and recommendation for certification by the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

• ELED 450 - K-8 Reading Methods 3 credits
• SPED 423 - Introduction to Teaching Students who are Blind 2 credits or
• SPED 523 - Introduction to Teaching Students who are Blind 2 credits
• SPED 424 - Introduction to Educational Aids and Appliances for Students who are Blind 1 credit or
• SPED 524 - Introduction to Education Aids and Appliances for Students who are Blind 1 credit
• Successful completion of the Braille proficiency test administered through the Braille and Talking Book Library.
