Bachelor of Arts

In addition to fulfilling all General Education System Goals and Institutional Graduation Requirements, candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree must take three additional courses as follows:

Human Values (3 credits)

ARTH 250 - Art and Ethics 3 credits
BADM 457 - Business Ethics 3 credits
EDFN 475 - Human Relations 3 credits
PHIL 100 - Introduction to Philosophy 3 credits *
PHIL 270 - Philosophy of Religion 3 credits *
POLS 206 - Human Nature and Human Values 3 credits

Notes

*Students may not use this course to satisfy this requirement if it also being used to satisfy Goal 4 of the General Education System Goals or Goal 2 of the Institutional Degree Requirements.

Arts and Humanities (6 credits)

Two additional courses from those listed in Goal 2 of the Institutional Degree Requirements (a total of six courses are required for the BA degree)

At least one course must be in fine arts (as listed in Group A)
At least one course must be in literature (as listed in Group B)
At least one course must be in a foreign language (as listed in Group B)
At least one course must be in Western Civilization (HIST 121 or HIST 122 )
Two courses may be elected from courses listed in Goal 2 of the Institutional Graduation Requirements

Bachelor of Science

In addition to fulfilling all General Education System Goals and Institutional Graduation Requirements, candidates for the Bachelor of Science degree must take three additional courses as follows:

Human Values (3 credits)

EDFN 475 - Human Relations 3 credits

Quantitative Course (3 credits)

A course in Mathematics (with a pre-requisite of MATH 102 or higher MATH)

BADM 220 - Business Statistics 3 credits or
ECON 220 - Business Statistics 3 credits
PSYC 371 - Statistics in Psychological Research 3 credits

Additional course (3 credits)

Course with MATH prefix above the level of College Algebra * or
Third course in Natural Sciences or
ECON 423 - Introduction to Econometrics 3 credits

Notes

*MATH 103 , MATH 104 and MATH 115 are considered to be at the level of College Algebra and therefore may not be used to satisfy this requirement.

Bachelor of Science in Education and Bachelor of Music Education

EPSY 302 - Educational Psychology 3 credits
EPSY 428 - Child and Adolescent Development 2 credits
INED 411 - South Dakota Indian Studies 3 credits
EDFN 475 - Human Relations 3 credits

Notes

In addition to fulfilling all General Education System Goals and institutional graduation requirements, candidates for the bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Music Education degree must take the professional education course work required for certification in the state of South Dakota. Of these requirements, EDFN 475 - Human Relations , satisfies the Human Values goal for all majors.
